Est.1987, Ivybridge's Tsutahashi Karate Club focuses on high quality Shotokan Karate, an effective and strong traditional martial art taught in its full depth for self-defence, confidence, health and fitness and a strong mind and body. Grades are truly earned and internationally recognised (can be used as part of GCSE and A-Level PE Syllabus). Our club is affiliated to the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB), by far the largest and most successful single-style martial arts association in Great Britain renowned for their uncompromising high standards and welcoming approach. Come and try! FIRST TWO LESSONS FREE! Only £3.50 per person per class thereafter. No joining fee.
Established in 1987, Ivybridge's Tsutahashi Shotokan Karate Club is a welcoming and friendly club, widely recognised for its excellent standards and high-achieving students both in grades and competitive success.
The Ivybridge-based club belongs to the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) which is the largest karate organisation in the UK, commanding great respect in the martial arts world. Grading examinations are conducted by Sensei Andy Sherry 9th Dan - head of the KUGB. The club is run on a not-for-profit basis: our focus is on high quality Shotokan Karate, an effective and strong traditional martial art taught in our club in its full depth. We don't cut corners or dilute for commercial gain – this is the real thing! The quality and passion for Karate in the club is self-evident. You are very welcome to COME AND SEE FOR YOURSELF!

To find the gym, proceed further up the road from the main school car park and you will see a small parking area on the right. Enter the school from there. Take the corridor to your left, and then to the right. They gym will then be in front of you.

We teach Shotokan Karate, a traditional martial art which is comprised of Kihon (basics of how to move with correct techniques, building strength and focus), Kata (set forms / patterns of movement), and Kumite (sparring), as well as Applied Karate.
